Car Accidents in New York City are likely, especially during the holiday season. Drivers, both visitors and residents, are urged to consider a few tips to help you to save on parking, avoid getting traffic tickets, avoid car accidents and make driving a little bit easier and a lot safer for everyone.

The Christmas and New Year's holidays are some of the most dangerous and deadliest times on our roadways. The National Safety Council (NSC) releases fatality predictions for these two holiday periods every year. This year, the NSC is predicting that roughly 300 individuals will die during each of the two 2011 year-end holiday periods. Nearly 100,000 more will be injured during this time because of traffic accidents.
Our New York City Car Accidents Lawyers understand that millions will make New York their holiday destination this year. With crowded roadways, motorists are asked to plan for the trip ahead of time to help to avoid any serious problems.
New York City Driving Tips:
-Don't drive if you don't have to. Many attractions within the city can be easily accessed by trains, buses, subways, cabs, etc.
-Don't turn on red. In the city, it is illegal to make a right-hand turn on red, except at intersections where it's otherwise noted.
-Keep an eye out for signs. Common one-way roads oftentimes confuse drivers. Always keep an eye out for road signs so you don't get in trouble, or hurt, by making an illegal turn or heading the wrong way down a road.
-Be on the lookout for pedestrians. It's illegal for pedestrians to jaywalk, but it still happens, a lot.
-Bring a bunch of quarter. Wherever you want to park, chances are there's a meter.
-Never park near a fire hydrant or a crosswalk. It's illegal!
-Unlike smaller downtown areas across the country, you can get a parking ticket in New York City 24 hours a day. Always make sure you're parking legally.
